VOLLEYBALL BRINGS HOMES CONFERENCE HONORS

RICHARDSON, TX - Two Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball players were selected for all conference honors for the 2005 season, the conference announced on Monday.

Two-time LSC player of the week Colleen Favaro was named All-Conference second team, while teammate outside hitter Jane Latu was named Honorable Mention by the Conference.

Favaro earned her second All-Conference team bid in her career as a Lion. The sophomore was named the LSC offensive player of the week for the week of Oct. 4, where she tied a career high of 34 kills in the win over Midwestern State. She also averaged 5.0 kills over 12 games for that week.

Futher into the season, Favaro received LSC defensive player of the week for the week of Oct. 17, where she finished LSC crossover play with 13 total blocks and 44 kills at the LSC Crossover Tournament in mid-October. The San Antonio,TX, native had at least four blocks in all three matches played. Her best showing of the series came in the final game against Tarleton State, where she had 5 blocks, aiding in the Lions victory over the TexAnns. Favaro also posted 18 kills with 4 blocks in the 3-2 win over Eastern New Mexico.

Latu, a junior transfer from Watauga, TX, is receiving her first All-Conference honor, in her first season as a Lion. The outside blocker led the Lions offensively, with 385 kills for the season, including a game high 17 kills in the Lions victory against Cameron University Nov. 5.
