Lions Land Three on All-Lone Star Conference Team

Three players on the Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team earned All-Lone Star Conference recognition on Wednesday. After earning second-team honors as a freshman and as a sophomore, junior Colleen Favaro received first team honors for the first time in her career in 2006. The San Antonio native led the Lions attack with 530 kills and an average of 4.91 kills per game; in addition, she posted a team-best hitting percentage of .269 and 80 blocks (34 block solos and 46 block assists). Newcomers junior Wannie Neal (Liberia) and freshman Lauren Flynn (Deer Park) were named honorable mention all-conference for a successful opening season. Neal joined the Lions attack and made an immediate impact to complement Favaro. She finished second on the team in kills (426), kills per game (3.87), hitting percentage (.261) and blocks (78). Flynn, who was the lone A&M-Commerce player to play in all 113 games in the 2006 season, As the libero for the Lions, she recorded a team-best 631 digs and averaged a team-leading 5.58 digs per game; plus she finished second on the team with 24 service aces. The Lions ended the season with an 11-19 record overall and 4-8 in Lone Star Conference play.
