VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW: Texas Woman's

Oct. 28, 2005

THE PACK CONTINUES TO TRAVEL
The Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions continued conference play Thursday, playing Midwestern State. The Lions played strong in the first and third games of the match, and fell to MSU in five games, (30-25, 25-30, 30-26, 29-31, 14-16). The ladies now 9-16 overall, have geared themselves up for this weekend's conference match against the Texas Woman's University Pioneers.

COMPETING AGANIST THE PIONEERS

A&M-Commerce comes into this weekend's match, 0-3 since their outstanding performance at the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament, two weeks ago. This Saturday's match up will be the second time that the Lions have met the Pioneers, since the September 29th match at the A&M-Commerce Field House.

The last time A&M-Commerce met the ladies of TWU, they lost a hard fought match against the Pioneers, where they fell 3-2 in the series. Jane Latu led the Lions back from a 0-2 deficit with 26 kills against the match, but came up short in the decisive fifth game, where the Pioneers sealed the win.

THE LIONS IN ACTIONS
In this week's action, the Lions were led by junior setter Alicia Capparelli, who recorded a career-high of 63 assists against the Lady Indians on Thursday. Other Lions in action were sophomore middle blocker Colleen Favaro with 19 kills and Latu making more noise with 20 kills.

The Pioneers are coming off their first win in five matches against the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savages Thursday. With that win, the Pioneers moved up to second place in the Lone Star Conference North divisional standings, tying with the Lady Savages. The Pioneers recorded a season-high of 134 digs against Southeastern, and were led by Robin Hawkins with 36. Ana Kordic and Kandis Schroeder also added 12 kills for the Pioneers.
