LIONS HEAD TO THE DENTON FOR CROSSOVER COMPETITION

RETURNING HOME The Lions fell continue a losing streak in conference play, after beating Midwestern State, October 1. The ladies took a fast lead in the first set with a 3-0 run, hold together for the remaining parts of the match. The lost moved the Lady Lions to 1-4 in the Lone Star Conference North Division. This week the Lions will compete in tournament play Friday and Saturday at the Lone Star Conference Crossover in Denton. LIONS ARE HEADING TO THE SNAKE PIT
THE LIONS IN ACTIONS The Lions (6-13,1-4 LSC North) were led in there last competition by freshman Brittany Williams with 7 kills in the game against the Lady Bronchos. Setter Alicia Capparelli also had 11 assist for the Lady Lions. The Lions' last appearance in the Crossover Tournament was in September of 2004 in Abiline, TX. where the Lions won against Texas A&M-Kingsville 4-0 then lost to West Texas A&M 3-0 and Eastern New Mexico. A&M-Commerce looks to having a better showing at this year's tournament. A SNAKE PIT PREVIEW The ladies of Tarleton, will be seeing the Lady Lions for the first time in crossover tournament play since 2000, where the ladies beat the TexAnns in three sets 15-1, 15-12, and 15-5. In their last meeting, in 2003 the Lions pulled of a 3-1 victory over the TexAnns four close sets. The Angelo State Ram belles have fallen once to the Lions in early season play, 3-2, which broke a two game losing streak in the two teams overall meetings, in both crossover action and regular season play. The last time these two met in crossover play was in 1983, where the Lions lost to the Rambelles in two sets 11-15, 2-15. |
