VOLLEYBALL FALLS SHORT IN CONFERNCE PLAY

LAWTON, OKLA. - After winning their first North Division game Saturday, the Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball Lions lost a 3-0 battle against Cameron University Thursday

The Aggies moved to 11-8 overall and 2-3 in the LSC North on scores of 30-22, 30-9, and 33-31.

Coming back from a game one loss, the Lions stayed within striking distance early in the match, trailing just 17-14 towards the middle of the opening set, yet failed to rally back in the set when Cameron went on a 5-0 run. The Lions rallied back in the third set, by launching a 12-3 run to take a 23-22 advantage.

The Lions (6-12,1-3 LSC North) were led by Lone Star Conference Offensive player of the week Colleen Favaro, with 7 kills and 2 blocks. Freshman Brittany Williams and Tosha Spain spiked 7 kills in the game against the Aggies. Setter Alicia Capparelli and Jackie Orr both left the game with 15 assists.

The Aggies held the edge in attack percentages with a 34.4, while the Lions had nine more kills on a 10.5 percentage. This was the Aggies first home appearance in conference play.

The Lions continue LSC North play on Saturday, when they travel to Edmond to face the Lady Bronchos, continuing Lone Star Conference North Division play.
