LIONS END THEIR SEASON WITH A VICTORY AGAINST THE AGGIES

Commerce, TX- The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's volleyball closed out their season Saturday afternoon, with a 3-game sweep over the Cameron University Aggies at the Field house, with scores of 30-19, 30-23 and 20-30. The Lions (10-19, 2-8) snapped a six match losing streak, with the victory over the Aggies, brining them down to 5-7 to end north division play.
The Lions set the tone early in the match by going head on with the Aggies, who started game one with early points, but broke away going on 5-0 run, started by a kill by Colleen Favaro. Cameron attempted to rally back, but were stopped by a service error, which set the Lions up for another run to win the game. In the second game of the match, the ladies of A&M-Commerce jumped to a 9-5 run, keeping the Aggies at bay, to later finish them off in game three of the match, with a key kill by Jane Latu, to end the match and the season, putting the Lions on top. Top leaders for the Lions' were Latu, with a game high of 17 kills, along with Favaro who tallied 15 kills and one block in the contest. Alicia Capparelli was also there for the Lions, with 47 assists, as well as Regan Jesse with 9 kills in the match. There for the Cameron Aggies were Taran Turner, who tallied 12 kills and two blocks against the Lions, and Vicki Ibarra with 22 assists. The Lions finished the season with their first 3-0 victory since Oct. 14, when they beat Angelo State in the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament in Denton.
