DENTON,Texas - The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's volleyball fell short Saturday afternoon to the Pioneers of Texas Woman's University, 3-0(30-20, 30-23 and 30-26). The Lions hung tough with the Pioneers in the first game of the match, with several lead changes, until a service error was made, pushing TWU to a 6-0 run, to give them the victory in game one. The second game of the match proved to run in the same direction for the Lions, as they went on early runs at the beginning of the game, but could not keep TWU at bay. However, the Lions began to rally back in game three, until a kill by the Pioneers helped them win the match. Standouts for the Lions were Jane Latu, leading the team with 10 kills overall, along with one block, while Jackie Orr, tallied 21 digs in the contest. Alicia Capperellli was also there for the Lions offensively with 34 assists. The Lions dropped to 9-17 overall and 1-8 in Lone Star Conference north division with just three games left to play. A&M-Commerce will take a break from north division play Tuesday, Nov. 1, when they take on the ladies of Dallas Baptist University. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
