Sept. 20, 2005 DURANT, Okla. - The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's volleyball team opened Lone Star Conference North Division play with a 3-1 loss Tuesday night to Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Lions (5-9, 0-1 LSC North) had a slightly better attack percentage (.092). But the Lady Savages (8-7, 1-0 LSC North) countered with 229 attacks on scores of 30-26, 30-28, 24-30, and 31-29. Colleen Favaro and freshman Regan Jesse reached double figures in kills. Favaro stuck 15 on 40 attempts, while Jesse had her best performance of the season with 10 kills and 18 digs, both season highs. In the win, Olivia Franceskini again proved why she's the leading scorer in the conference, adding 25 kills on 65 attempts along with 17 digs. The Lions did manage to have their best blocking performance of the season on the heels of a season high just last week. A&M-Commerce came away with 13 blocks, and Favaro led the way with five. The Lady Savages only had a better hitting percentage in one of the four games but took at least 50 attempts in each game. The Lions reached the 50-attempt plateau in just one game. Jackie Orr and Jennifer Hill shared the team lead in digs with 24. Orr also led the Lions in assists with 19, as Alicia Capparelli added 17 for the Lions. Megan Graham totaled 46 assists in SOSU head coach Cherrie Wilmoth's 50th career win. The Lions return home for Friday and Saturday matches. St. Edward's travels to the A&M-Commerce Field House for a 7 p.m. match Friday. Southwestern Oklahoma State is in town for LSC North action Saturday at 2 p.m.
