VB LIONS FALL 3-0 AT SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
Sept. 13, 2005 MAGNOLIA, Ark. - In spite of the efforts from freshman Brittany Williams, the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's volleyball team continued its struggles on the road with a 3-0 loss Tuesday night to Southern Arkansas. Williams led the Lions (5-8) with nine kills and a game-high 34 attacks. The Muleriders (7-6) connected for kills on better than 26 percent of its attacks, with 14 coming from Austin native Shelly Jones in their 30-19, 30-23, 30-22 win. The Lions were successful on just under 10 percent of its attacks but did manage its strongest blocking efforts of the year, 14 assisted and one solo. Jane Latu assisted in turning back five attacks for 2.5 blocks, a game best. The Wautaga junior also posted six kills. Colleen Favaro was good for seven points on a 35.3 attack percentage. Senior Tosha Spain and Jennifer Hill added kills four each. Alicia Capparelli and Jackie Orr split the setting duties to combine for 25 assists on the night. Haltom graduate Sara Woolbright assisted on 30 kills in the win. The Lions take a sneak peak at Lone Star Conference action next week with a Sept. 20 match at Southeastern Oklahoma State. The next home game is Sept. 23, when the Lions take on St. Edward's for a 7 p.m. +++A&M-C+++
