Lions Drop Pair of 3-1 Decisions in Final Day of Texoma Challenge

The Texas A&M-Commerce volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-1 decisions to Henderson State and host Southeastern Oklahoma on the final day of the Texoma Challenge. The Lions (1-2) began the day falling to Henderson State, 24-30, 30-24, 30-19, 30-23. Despite the loss, senior Jana Starkweather had a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Teammate Wannie Neal also had 10 kills in the loss. Henderson State (2-0) out-hit A&M-Commerce .223 to .107 in the win. Edith Musebe had a match-high 23 kills and hit at a .395 clip in the win. In the second match of the afternoon, Texas A&M-Commerce dropped a 26-30, 30-15, 30-28, 30-20 decision to the host Savage Storm. In all three of the Lions matches, they have won the opening game. Starkweather paced the Lions attack for the second-straight match with another double-double effort. The Pittsburg, Kansas native had a team-high 12 kills and 11 digs in the loss. Three SOSU players recorded double-digit kills, including a match-high 17 from Destiny Brown to lead the attack. Brown also had a match-high 14 digs. Senior Wannie Neal represented A&M-Commerce on the All-Tournament Team. Next, the Lions will travel to the Henderson State Tournament for a match against host Henderson State on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and take on Arkansas Tech on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
