LIONS TAKE EARLY MATCH, FALL LATE
Aug. 26, 2005 SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions split the second day of the Concho Volleyball Classic held Friday by Angelo State. The morning session started off with a superb 18-kills effort from junior transfer Jane Latu, taking Colorado-Colorado Springs (0-1) in a 3-2 final (25-30, 30-23, 26-30, 30-27, 15-11). Colorado State-Pueblo got the best of the Lions in the late match with a .242 attack percentage and sweeping the final three game in their 3-1 win (26-30, 30-13, 30-24, 30-27). In the first game, Latu sprung for 18 kills on 27 attacks, and Brittany Williams with 15 and Colleen Favaro with 15 kills secured the win. Meagan Sater made the drive in CS-Pueblo's win. She tagged 21 kills, a match-high, and landed 10 digs. North Mesquite sophomore Jackie Orr added 24 digs in the Lions' second match. Brittany Williams led the A&M-Commerce attack with 13 kills along with 16 digs. Alicia Capparelli anchored 46 assists in the early match and added 42 more in the loss. The Lions (2-1) compete on the third and final day of the Angelo State tournament Sunday with an afternoon match against Metro State (Colo.). +++A&M-C+++
