Texas A&M-Commerce Announces 2007 Soccer Schedule

May 8, 2007

Commerce, Texas

Texas A&M-Commerce head women's soccer coach Neil Piper released the 2007 schedule for the Lions on Tuesday. The schedule includes 10 games at the friendly confines of the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.

"It is a very tough non-conference schedule that should prepare us well for a very challenging Lone Star Conference schedule. It will also give us an opportunity to play teams that will be in the NCAA tournament and prepare us in the event we qualify for the NCAA tournament," said Piper.

The Lions will play 10 non-conference contests, five of which will be played at home, including the season opener on Saturday, Aug. 25 against Southwest Baptist. On the non-conference schedule is a weekend trip to Miami, Florida, where they will take on Tampa, Sept. 7 and Barry on Sept. 9. In addition, they will travel to Lake Charles, Louisiana to face Division I opponent, McNeese State. The Cowgirls won the Southland Conference Tournament title in 2006 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

In the always-tough Lone Star Conference, A&M-Commerce will host five matches. Among the five matches is the home finale against 2006 NCAA Regional qualifier West Texas A&M on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1:00 pm. The Lions will also host Northeastern State, East Central, Texas Woman's and Eastern New Mexico. They will take to the road to face the other regional qualifier from the LSC in Central Oklahoma as well as Southwestern Oklahoma, Midwestern State, Angelo State and Abilene Christian. 2007 will mark the first year of soccer for Abilene Christian.
