Final Stats
Commerce, TX - A&M-Commerce (9-5-2, 3-2-2) scored four goals in just eight minutes en route to a 5-0 triumph over Dallas Baptist (7-11) at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field Tuesday.
The Lions got off to a slow start, which included a multitude of missed opportunities. 33:41 into the contest, Melissa DoRemus scored a goal, which opened up the floodgates offensively for A&M-Commerce.
DoRemus' goal started a remarkable offensive barrage that saw the Lions register five goals in only 11:46. The fifth and final goal came 35 seconds into the second half allowing the Lions the luxury of playing conservatively for the remainder of the afternoon.
Erin de Wolfe once again was the spark plug for the Lions offense. She added four more assists to her all-time school record, which now stands at 50. De Wolfe now leads the Lone Star Conference in shots (68), shots per game (4.25), points (30), assists (14), assists per game (.875), and game winning goals (5).
Freshman Melissa DoRemus had another stellar performance on offense by scoring two goals and upping her season points total to 19. Her nine goals are currently good enough to rank her second in the conference in goal scoring.
Sophomore Bailey Geels scored two goals and an assist. She now has a season total of 13 points (five goals, three assists). With the aforementioned goals, Geels has registered points in five consecutive games.
Other contributors on offense for the Lions were Haylee Williams (one goal), Jessica Pierce (two assists), and Kensley Apetz (one assist).
Amber Ramoz got the start in goal, she registered three saves and recorded her third shutout of the season. With the win Ramoz improved her record in goal to 4-4-1.
With the victory, A&M-Commerce extended their unbeaten streak to six games. In that six game span the Lions have outscored their opponents 24-2.
With only two games remaining in the regular season, the Lions look to solidify their position in the Lone Star Conference standings. They are currently sitting in fourth place, with the top six teams earning births to the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
The Lion's host Eastern New Mexico on Friday, October 18th. The game is scheduled to start at 3 P.M.
