Oct. 10, 2007
In a closely contested match, it was a penalty kick in the 80th minute that led visiting Texas Woman's to a 2-1 victory over host Texas A&M-Commerce in a Wednesday afternoon match at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Complex.
The loss is the second straight for the Lions, who fall to 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the Lone Star Conference. Texas Woman's wins its second-straight match to raise its record to 5-8-1 overall and 2-3 in the Lone Star Conference. Texas Woman's Chastity Hayter and Taylor Bullock exchanged passes in the sixth minute to the visiting Pioneers in front 1-0. A&M-Commerce answered when sophomore Meagan Lasley capitalized on a breakaway, beating the TWU goalkeeper with a shot to the lower left post to tie the game at one in the 27th minute. Hayter nearly had her second goal of the contest in the 67th minute when her shot hit the right post. The Pioneers scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal when Theresa Sanches converted a penalty kick in the 80th minute. In the final seconds of the match, A&M-Commerce attempted a corner kick attempt that came up short.
