The Texas A&M-Commerce soccer team outshot the Bulldogs 23-9 on the afternoon, but were unable to capitalize in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma on Senior Day at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.

Southwestern Oklahoma (6-6-1, 3-2) scored on their first shot attempt, in the 14th minute, to take a 1-0 lead. Bulldog junior Jamie Hilterbran sent a cross into the middle of the box and senior midfielder Chelsea Edwards booted the ball into the back of the net from 10 yards out to give Southwestern the lead.

The Lions (7-6-3, 3-2-1) answered back to tie the game in the 43rd minute when sophomore midfielder Melissa DoRemus tipped a pass to freshman midfielder Ashley Osborne in the middle of the box. Osborne kicked it past the Bulldog goalkeeper to record her first goal of the season.

Following a foul in the Lions penalty area, the Bulldogs were awarded a penalty kick in the 86th minute. Hilterbran scored the penalty kick in what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Bulldogs.

A&M-Commerce controlled possession for a majority of the contest and had six more shots on goal than the Bulldogs (10-4). The Lions also had 11 more corner kick opportunities than SWOSU in the loss (12-1).

Freshman forward Lacy Alexander took six shots to lead the Lions attack, while junior forward Bailey Geels and DoRemus each managed four shots.

In their final home match, seniors Celia Cross, Amber Ramoz, and Tia Rew were recognized in a pre-match ceremony to commemorate their careers at Texas A&M-Commerce.

The Lions begin a four-match road-trip to wrap-up the regular season, beginning with Dallas Baptist at 7 p.m. next Friday.
