The A&M-Commerce soccer team moved their unbeaten streak to five games by earning a 2-1 victory over regionally-ranked Regis on Friday at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.

Regis (7-4-2), the no. 7 ranked team in the Midwest Region, shocked Lions' fans by scoring a goal 18 seconds into the contest. Carter Cornett received a Kelly Labor pass and kicked it by Lion goalkeeper Amber Ramoz to give the Rangers an early 1-0 advantage.

The Lions (6-4-3) responded in the ninth minute when sophomore midfielder Melissa DoRemus was fouled inside the Rangers penalty area. DoRemus netted her first penalty kick attempt of the season into the lower-left-hand corner of the goal to tie the game at one.

A&M-Commerce scored the game-deciding goal in the 39th minute, when freshman forward Lacy Alexander maneuvered her way through two defenders and passed the ball to DoRemus directly in front of the goal. DoRemus kicked the ball into the back of the net to record her second goal of the contest and her third of the season.

A&M-Commerce outshot Regis 16-8 on the afternoon and managed three more corner kicks (5-2) than the Rangers.

The Lions return to action on Sunday when they take on the no. 2 team in the nation, Metro St, at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field. Start time is scheduled for noon.
