SOCCER FALLS AT ANGELO STATE, 1-0
Sept. 27, 2005
SAN ANGELO, Texas - The 21st-ranked Texas A&M University-Commerce women's soccer team dropped a tightly contested 1-0 game Tuesday to Angelo State in Lone Star Conference action. The Lions (5-3, 0-2 LSC) fell to LSC foe Midwestern State by the same score last week. The Rambelles (4-6, 2-1 LSC) frustrated A&M-Commerce all afternoon, finally taking the lead with a goalmouth score from Marianne Glutz in the 61st minute. Tricia Evers and Casey Halamicek combined for the assists with a cross to the left post played across the face of the goal. A&M-Commerce could only counter with 10 shots as all but one came in the second half. Of the 24 fouls called in the game, 17 went against the Lions. It culminated with three cautions being leveled against the Lions after rough tackles and a late ejection of keeper Stacey McDaniel when the Rambelles were slow to take a corner. McDaniel, who gave up just her first goal in four games this season, did have a season-high 6 saves before exiting. The Lions take on top-ranked Metro State (Colo.) on the road in Denver on Friday and then No. 7 Regis (Colo.) on Sunday. Both schools are ranked just ahead of the Lions in the Midwest Region. +++A&M-C+++
