The A&M-Commerce soccer team battled their way to a second straight tie in Friday's match against St. Mary's at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.

The Lions (4-4-3) scored the first goal of the game just before halftime to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman forward Lacy Alexander received a pass from Bailey Geels, weaved her way through two defenders and fired a shot with her left foot into the upper right corner of the goal in the 43rd minute to give the Lions a first-half advantage.

St. Mary's (2-2-3) responded near the beginning of the second half with an equally impressive strike. The Rattlers' Marcey Morales took a shot from the left side of the field, just inside the box and bounced it off of the right post and in to tie the game.

The Lions outshot St. Mary's 13-10. A pair of fouls took away possible game-winning goals for the Lions, one of which came in the final moments of the second and decisive overtime period.

Alexander and sophomore Jessica Pierce each managed three shots to lead the Lions offensive attack and senior goalkeeper Amber Ramoz made seven saves.

Rachel Maldonado and Erin McCutcheon led the Rattler charge with three shots apiece and goalkeeper Lily Cano made three stops.

The Lions travel to Tahlequah, Oklahoma on Sunday to take on Northeastern State University at 2 p.m.
