Commerce, Texas

Two goals in the final 10 minutes of a non-conference contest saw visiting Texas A&M-Commerce drop a 2-1 decision to host St. Mary's on Friday afternoon.

The Lions (4-4) ended a scoreless tie 41 seconds into the second half when freshman Dana Deerinwater scored her second goal of the season. The Kilgore, Texas native found the back of the net on a crossing pass from freshman Megan Monroe. It is the team-leading sixth assist on the season for Monroe.

The Rattlers (4-3) secured the equalizer in the 81st minute on an Amanda McMullan goal. A&M-Commerce came right back with a threat for the go-ahead goal. Back-to-back shots by Deerinwater and sophomore Meagan Lasley in the 84th and 85th minutes respectively were blocked by the St. Mary's defense. However, St. Mary's senior forward Deann Lopez scored her third goal of the season in the 87th minute for the game-winning tally.

A&M-Commerce is back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Austin, Texas when they face another Heartland Conference foe - St. Edward's.
