Texas A&M University-Commerce extended its winning streak to two games with a 2-0 win over Dallas Baptist on Tuesday at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Complex.

The Lions (4-3), who are ranked No. 7 in the NSCAA Midwest Region, had multiple opportunities in the win, outshooting the Patriots 35-9. Senior Bailey Geels led the attack for A&M-Commerce with a career-high nine shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Alvarado made three saves en route to her second shut out of the season.

The Patriots (2-4) had three players with two shots in the loss and goalkeeper Emily Evans was busy in the entire 90 minutes, making 15 saves in the contest.

In the 10th minute, sophomore Meagan Lasley picked up a pass from senior Tamara Geels just past the middle of the field. The Mesquite, Texas native dribbled the ball down the field and beat the DBU goalkeeper with a shot to the lower right for the wide-open goal and the early 1-0 advantage.

In the opening stanza, the Lions dominated the offensive side of the field as A&M-Commerce out shot Dallas Baptist, 16-4 in the first 45 minutes.

The Lions added to their lead early in the second half when freshman Chelsey Haight found the back of the net when a shot by Melissa DoRemus hit a DBU defender. The Granbury, Texas native picked up the shot that was ricochet off the Patriot player and put it to the upper left corner of the goal. A&M-Commerce had a few more opportunities that were called back due to being off side or a foul was called on the play.
 

 

A&M-Commerce returns to the pitch on Friday at 3 p.m. when they take on St. Mary's (Texas) at 3 p.m. in San Antonio. The Rattlers are ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA Midwest Region and are currently 4-3 on the season.
