Lions Begin Play at NSU Women's Golf Classic

Freshman Heather Pantalion shot a career-best 80 and junior Adi Attaway also shot an 80 to lead the Texas A&M-Commerce women's golf team on the first day of the NSU Women's Golf Classic in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Both Pantalion and Attaway are tied for 26th place overall.

During the opening round, Attaway recorded 12 pars on the par 72, 5,873-yard course. The 12 pars ranked tied for third in the 103-person field. Her front nine of 37 was tied for the fourth lowest in the field.

Leading the 21-team field is defending champion, Western Washington who shot an opening round 304. The Lions are in 14th with a first round total of 343. The individual leader Jessica Harbin of St. Mary's (Texas) shot a two-under 70 for a two-stroke lead heading into Tuesday's final round.

Rounding the A&M-Commerce lineup, sophomore Jamie Gililland is tied for 76th after shooting an 89 (45-44), sophomore Ali Tanner is tied for 89th with a 94 (46-48) and sophomore Amy Landrum is tied for 93rd with a 98 (45-53).

The Lions will resume play on Tuesday in the final round at 8 a.m. at the Cobblestone Creek Golf Club.
