Lions Extend Home Winning Streak to 19 Games in 78-65 Win Over Texas-Tyler

A 15-2 run in the middle of the second half sparked the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team to a 78-65 win over the University of Texas-Tyler on Saturday afternoon at the A&M-Commerce Field House.

With the win, A&M-Commerce raises its record to 8-2 and also the victory extends the Lions home winning streak to a school record 19 games. The Patriots of Texas-Tyler fall to 6-3 on the season.

A&M-Commerce senior Katedria Mosley led all scorers with 23 points, including 16 in the second half. Mosley paced a Lion attack that outscored Texas-Tyler, 60-26 on points in the paint and 25-10 on second-chance efforts. The Idabel, Oklahoma native also grabbed eight rebounds as A&M-Commerce outrebounded the Patriots, 50-37, including a decisive 24-9 advantage on the offensive boards.

Mosley was joined in double digits by teammates Britney Jordan and Nola Taylor, who added 16 and 10, respectively. Jordan also added a game-high seven assists and Taylor chipped in six boards. Senior Melissa Bratton grabbed a career-high and game-high 10 rebounds to go along with eight points and five assists in the win.

Four Patriots scored in double figures and accounted for 57 of the 65 points for Texas-Tyler. Melissa Thomas poured in a team-high 22 to lead the Patriots. She was joined by Lindsay Eaton with 14; Kasey Buggs added 11 and Marci Trogus chipped in 10.

Next, a rigorous schedule awaits the Lions as they will play five games in 10 days, starting with a match-up against Texas-Woman's in Denton at 2 pm on January 2nd.
