Dec. 8, 2007

Box Score

Texas A&M University-Commerce junior All-American candidate Britney Jordan outscored Midwestern State by herself until the 5:23 mark in the first half. The Peoria, Illinois native scored the first nine points of the game for the Lions in a Midwestern State on Saturday afternoon at the A&M-Commerce Field House.

A&M-Commerce (7-2) senior Melissa Bratton and Jordan shared in game-high honors with 14 points. Seniors Katedria Mosley and Dominee Evans nearly had double double performances with nine points and 10 rebounds each in the win. In the win, the Lions outscored the Mustangs by a 32-4 convincing margin in points off turnovers.

Midwestern State (2-4) landed two players in double digits with Rosy Ofoegbu and Kaylon Hodge each poured in 10 points to lead the Mustangs.

When Ofoegbu connected on a lay-up with 5:23 left in the first 20 minutes, Midwestern State closed out the opening half with a 12-6 run to go into the intermission with a 31-22 deficit.

Early in the second half, Midwestern State cut the A&M-Commerce lead to eight on a three pointer by Brandy Moore, but the Lions retaliated with an 18-4 run to go in front, 61-41, with 5:56 left in the game to put the game out of reach.

In the second half, junior Brittany Williams sparked the Lions with eight points, three rebounds and four steals. Plus, Bratton had 10 of her 14 to go along with six rebounds and four assists.

Next, the Lions will enjoy a 22-day break for final exams and the holidays before they face the University of Texas-Tyler on December 29th at 2 p.m.
