Three Lions Score in Double Digits in 70-60 Win Over Tarleton State

Three A&M-Commerce players scored in double digits, including a game-high 24 from junior Britney Jordan to lead the Lions to a 70-60 win on Thursday night over Tarleton State.
Jordan exhibited a strong all-around play game with six assists, five rebounds and five steals in 37 minutes before fouling out with 1:48 left in the game. She was joined in double figures by senior Dominee Evans, who recorded her second double double of the season, with 15 points and 12 rebounds and Katedria Mosley, who added 10 in the win. A&M-Commerce raised its record to 6-2 and handed Tarleton State its first defeat of the season, which fall to 4-1. Tarleton State was led by Meagan Curtis, who came off the bench to score 17 points. In the first half, after the TexAnns and the Lions were tied at 15 with 8:10 left in the first 20 minutes, A&M-Commerce answered with a 7-2 run to take a 22-17 advantage. During the run, Jordan scored on a three pointer, grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist. The Lions extended the margin to as much as 10 in the first half, but Tarleton State came back to cut the lead to three with seven-straight points, including six from Meagan Curtis. Following a Mosley free throw, Curtis scored three-straight points to close out the first half as the Lions went into the intermission with a 31-30 advantage. With a 10-2 run to start the second half, A&M-Commerce took its second 10-point lead of the game, 42-32. Again, Tarleton State answered with six-consecutive points to trim the Lions lead to four, 42-38 with 12:29 remaining in the game. The TexAnns eventually worked the deficit down to two with 9:25 left but the Lions regained the momentum and extended the margin to nine, 52-43, on seven points in a row en route to the win.
The Lions will look to extend its winning streak to three games on Saturday with a 2 pm match up against Midwestern State.
