No. 13 Lions Return to Winning Ways with 75-54 Win Over Eastern New Mexico

A 30-8 decisive run midway through the first half sparked No. 13 Texas A&M-Commerce to a 75-54 win over Eastern New Mexico on Saturday afternoon in Portales, New Mexico.

In the win, four Lions (5-2) scored in double figures as seniors Melissa Bratton and Katedria Mosley each scored 15 points in the win. Off the bench, junior Nola Taylor poured in a career-high 13 points - 10 in the second half - and a team-high six rebounds and junior Brittany Williams scored 12 points and had five steals.

The Lions defense forced a season-high 30 Eastern New Mexico turnovers that led to 32 points for A&M-Commerce. Also, the defensive pressure by the Lions forced the Zias to shoot 31% from the field and 11.1% from beyond the three-point line.

In the loss, Eastern New Mexico (1-5) Cat Clay had a double double with 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Teammate Tori Northcutt, who was averaging a team-best 11.4 points a game, was held to five points but she contributed 13 boards in the defeat.

The Lions return home to face Tarleton State on Thursday at 6 pm at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
