Lions Rout Paul Quinn, 79-43

With a 13-4 run to begin to start the game, the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team cruised to a 79-43 win over Paul Quinn on Tuesday night.

The Lions (2-0) held the visiting Tigers to 27.1% shooting from the field in the win. A&M-Commerce inside players Katedria Mosley and Dominee Evans each posted double doubles in the win. Mosley scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and Evans added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Mosley and Evans were joined in double figures by senior Melissa Bratton, who scored a game-high 22 points and junior Britney Jordan added 15.

Bratton outscored Paul Quinn singlehanded in the first 20 minutes, pouring in 17 points to the Tigers' 14. The Mount Pleasant, Texas native was not alone in double digits in the first half as Mosley scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

With a 13-4 run to start the game, the Lions came back to go on a 17-8 spurt to blow the contest wide open for a 40-14 lead with 2:25 remaining in the first half. In the first half, A&M-Commerce had 18 points in the paint and 16 on second-chance efforts.

With a 36-point halftime advantage, 50-14, A&M-Commerce extended the margin to as much as 39 in the second half. In the second half, Jordan scored nine points to lead A&M-Commerce and junior Nola Taylor scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds. Paul Quinn guard Crystal DeBose scored 10 of her team-high 12 points in the second 20 minutes.
 

 

With a 2-0 mark on the season for the fourth-straight year, next, the Lions travel to Topeka, Kansas for the Thanksgiving holiday where they will face Rockhurst on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and host Washburn on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Both games will be carried on 88.9 FM - KETR.
