Three Lions scored in double figures to lead Texas A&M-Commerce to its first-ever berth in the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship with a 65-59 win over Angelo State.

Texas A&M-Commerce (24-8) led for most of the contest; however, when ASU took a 51-48 lead with 8:57 left in the contest, the Lions answered with a 17-8 run to close out the contest. In the run, eight of the points came in the paint and senior Kanani Marshal hit back-to-back three pointers for the win. Sophomore Britney Jordan had a game-high 23 points, teammates Marshal and Katedria Mosley scored 13 and 11 points, respectively for the Lions.

Angelo State (17-11) landed three players in double figures in the loss. Britinee Davis scored a team-high 16, off the bench, Tiffany Hardwell had a double double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and Asheia Haynes chipped in 10. ASU outrebounded Texas A&M-Commerce 45-33 in the loss.

The Lions began the game on a 7-2 run and extended the margin to as much as 12, 18-6, with 13:28 left in the first half. Ten of the points came from Jordan to spark Texas A&M-Commerce. The Belles came back with a 12-2 run to get within two, 20-18, with 5:19 left in the first stanza. Jordan scored 12 points in the first half to lead the Lions. The Texas A&M-Commerce defense forced 10 Angelo State turnovers which led to 11 points for the Lions. Meghann LeJeune scored a team-high six to pace ASU.

The Lions advance to play the Lone Star Conference South Division champion West Texas A&M in the championship game on Saturday night at 7:30 pm.
