Feb. 16, 2008

Box Score

Led by the season-high 18 points from senior Dominee Evans and 12 points from freshman Genevieve Campbell, the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team posted a 70-64 win over East Central on Saturday afternoon.

Evans hit a jumper with 7:22 left in the game to put A&M-Commerce in front for the remainder of the contest. The senior from Fort Worth as well as junior Nola Taylor combined to score 14 of the final 20 points for the Lions in the win. With the win, A&M-Commerce raises its record to 17-7 overall and 6-3 in the Lone Star Conference North Division.

East Central (12-12 overall, 2-7 LSC North) was led by Lacey Goldwire, who scored 26 points - 18 of which came in the second half. She was joined in double digits by Casi Rawls and Kacey Thomas, who scored 17 and 13 points, respectively.

A&M-Commerce (17-7 overall, 6-3 LSC North) senior Katedria Mosley joined Evans and Campbell in double figures with 18 points, six rebounds and a team-high four steals. It is the ninth time in the last 11 games that the Idabel, Oklahoma native has been in double digits.

The visiting Tigers led until Campbell swished her fourth three pointer of the game at the 18:23 mark of the second half to put A&M-Commerce in front 34-31. ECU rallied to tie the game and go back in front when Rawls made a pair of free throws with 7:33 remaining. The jumper by Evans sparked a 9-2 spur that put the Lions in front, 59-52 with 4:37 left in the contest. Down the stretch, the closest the Tigers could only get as close as two.

Next, the Lions host Southwestern Oklahoma on Wednesday at 6 pm at the A&M-Commerce Field House. Earlier this year, on January 30th, the Bulldogs defeated the Lions, 87-65 in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
