Final Stats

ADA, Okla. - Rashida Wilson scored the final points of regulation to bring the A&M-Commerce women from nine back late in the second half Wednesday night, but East Central (Okla.) scored six points in the final minute of overtime to hand the Lions a consecutive overtime loss on the road, 68-62, in Lone Star Conference North Division play.

Tied at 54 after regulation, the Lady Tigers (11-13, 5-5) ended a 6-1 run in the final minute of play to grab a 67-61 lead. The Lions, who were ranked 10th in the South Central Region earlier in the day, shot 41 percent from the floor (24-of-58) to ECU's 34.

Sophomore forward Jastin Flenory was sent to the line after grabbing a disputed ECU miss. The Lady Tigers found a 62-58 lead with made free throws. A Kanani Marshal three with 1:27 to play put the Lions within one, 62-61. Flenory added a jumper, taking a foul and adding a free throw, to give ECU a 65-61 edge with 30 seconds on the clock.

Tenecia Miller was sent to the line in the double bonus with 12 seconds to play, hitting a pair of free throw to put ECU up 67-61.

The Lions (13-11, 5-4) opened the extra period with a basket from Wilson for a 56-54 lead. The lead would swap three more times, as Flenory gave ECU a 59-58 advantage.

The Lions trailed 52-43 with five minutes in the second half as Althea Byfield scored two of her 11 points on the night. She and Mosley counter again with buckets to pull within four. Following a Byfield block of Lacey Goldwire, Wilson converted in the paint, while Marshal added a three to tie the game at 52 with 50 seconds remaining. Wilson, with a game-high five assists, and Marshal scored 10 points for A&M-Commerce.
 

 

A layup from Miller put the Lady Tigers up the next possession, ending a 9-0 Lion run. The Lions couldn`t convert on their next possession, but Byfield stole a pass at the mid-court with 14 seconds to give the Lions a final look at the basket.

Time was called immediately. Wilson redeemed the Lions with a jumper in the paint with 6.1 seconds remaining in the half, tying the game at 54.

Mosley led the Lions with 15 points and five rebounds. The Lions led by as many as eight with six minutes gone in the first half and ended the half with a 29-26 lead.

East Central was 20-of-26 from the line and held a 44-40 advantage on the boards. The Lady Tigers scored 19 second-chance points in the win. Flenory scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting.

The Lions return to the Field House for division play with Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
