Lions Return to Winning Ways with a 77-46 Rout of East Central

Sophomore Britney Jordan made a season-high five three pointers en route to a season-high 27 points to lead the Texas A&M-Commerce women's basketball team to a 77-46 win over host East Central at the Kerr Activities Center in Ada, Oklahoma. With Jordan drawing the ECU defense to the perimeter, Texas A&M-Commerce inside players Katedria Mosley and Tradawn Short scored 22 and 13 points, respectively. The 22 points for Mosley are a season-high for the Idabel, Oklahoma native. She scored eight-straight in a stretch in the second half and made a pair of three pointers in the win. For the Lions, Jordan had a strong all-around game with seven steals and five assists. Despite being held without a three pointer, senior Kanani Marshal contributed a team-high eight rebounds and six assists; plus, junior Dominee Evans had six rebounds. With the win, Texas A&M-Commerce raises its record to 13-7 and evens its Lone Star Conference North Division record to 1-1. East Central evens it record to the .500 mark with a 9-9 overall and a 2-2 mark in the LSC North. In addition to a strong offensive showing, equally as impressive was the play of the Texas A&M-Commerce defense. The Lions held the Tigers to 34.5% shooting for the contest and 33.3% from three-point line. In addition, they forced ECU into 29 turnovers and the Lions came up with 17 steals. The Lions went on an early 13-4 run in the first six minutes of the contest and never looked back. In the opening half, Jordan scored 16 points - including the final seven - on four three pointers to spark Texas A&M-Commerce.
In the first 20 minutes, the Lions shot 45.5% from the field and the Tigers were held to 29.6%. With a stifling defense, Texas A&M-Commerce had eight steals as they forced 14 turnovers. The Lions return home for its next three games in a five-day span, starting with a match up on Saturday against Southeastern Oklahoma State at 2 pm at the A&M-Commerce Field House. Fans are encouraged to "Fill Up the Field House" as the contest will be a special CSTV web broadcast and the first 100 students will receive a t-shirt to the doubleheader.
