Jan. 6, 2008

Box Score

Despite a double double from junior Britney Jordan, No. 17 Texas A&M University-Commerce dropped a 68-57 decision to Incarnate Word, snapping a six-game winning streak.

A&M-Commerce (10-3) missed all 12 of its attempts from beyond the three-point line in the loss. Jordan, who was 7-for-29 from the field and 0-for-7 from beyond the arc, led three Lions in double figures with 16 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. She was joined by senior Melissa Bratton, who chipped in 11 and junior Brittany Williams, who added 10.

Incarnate Word (6-7) was led by Kim Robinson, who scored a game-high 25 points in the win. She was joined in double figures by Cinnamon Kava, who scored 16 and Nia Torru, who scored 10.

UIW led from the opening tip and raced out to a 14-2 advantage to start the contest. The closest A&M-Commerce would get as close as one on a pair of occasions in the second half. After clawing back to one, 47-46, with 10:27 left, Kava and Incarnate Word answered with a 7-0 run to extend the margin to 52-46 with 8:56 remaining in the game. The Lions would get no closer down the stretch.

A&M-Commerce will return home for two Lone Star Conference crossover games, beginning with Angelo State on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
