Lions Continue Best Start in School History with 65-58 Win

With the game tied at 41 midway into the second half against Texas A&M-Kingsville, the No. 17 Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team went on an 8-1 spurt en route to a 65-58 win on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions (10-2) were tied for the 10th time in the crossover contest against the host Javelinas with 10:24 remaining in the game before the decisive spurt. During the spurt, the Lions made three-consecutive layups to take control of the contest.

A&M-Commerce senior Melissa Bratton scored a game-high 19 points in the win. Plus, junior Brittany Williams - who was playing against her Paris Junior College coach Scott Hyland (who is now the head coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville) added 13 points and five steals in the win.

Texas A&M-Kingsville (4-7) was led by the double double performance of LaKeisha Jones, who scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. The Javelinas also got 16 from Dayna Bullinger and 10 more from Kayla Naylor in the defeat.
