A&M-Commerce Extends Winning Streak to Five Games

The Lions frontline tandem of Dominee Evans and Katedria Mosley led A&M-Commerce to a 73-65 win over Texas Woman's on Wednesday evening in Denton, Texas.
Evans, a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. With the double double performance by the senior from Fort Worth, A&M-Commerce 4-0 with the double double effort and 7-0 when she has double-digit rebounds. Mosley scored eight points, pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds and rejected a season-high five shots - one shy of the A&M-Commerce single-game record. The win extends the Lions winning streak to five games and to a 9-2 overall mark. Texas Woman's (4-7) had four players in double figures, including a game-high 14 from Renee Renz. She was joined by Jessica Durr and Amanda Day, who each added 13 and Brandi Crouch tallied 11 in the win. In the second half, the Lions blistered the nets for the second half as they shot over 50% from the field. In the second 20 minutes, A&M-Commerce shot 53.8% for its second highest effort of the season; plus, Evans, Jordan and Mosley each scored 10 points apiece. After finding itself behind 13-4 early, the Lions roared back with a 14-2 run of its own to take an 18-15 lead for its first lead on a Genevieve Campbell three pointer. A&M-Commerce led for nearly the remainder of the first half until the Pioneers' Renee Renz hit a pair of free throws with 4:04 left to give TWU a brief 27-26 lead. Bratton made four-consecutive free throws to give the Lions a 30-28 intermission and senior Tarika Campbell hit a three pointer with .3 seconds left in the opening half to extend an A&M-Commerce lead to 33-28 at the intermission. The three point field goal made by Campbell ends a 0-for-17 slump for the Long Beach native from beyond the arc.
The Lions will resume its rigorous schedule of five games in 10 days with a trip to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday at 2 p.m and the action can be heard live on KETR (88.9 FM).
