DISCOUNTS: Fans can receive a discount on their admission by bringing a can good to Thursday's game against Tarleton State. With each can, a $1 will be taken off your ticket price for a maximum of a $2 discount. All collected can goods will be given to the Commerce Food Bank.

MAKE A THREE, MAKE A DONATION: For each Lions three pointer, the A&M-Commerce Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be collecting donations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

SCOOBY SNACKS: A&M-Commerce senior forward Scooby Johnson is making an early case for LSC North Division Newcomer of the Year with his early play. Among conference players, he is the second leading scorer, fourth in field-goal percentage, fifth in rebounding, ninth in steals, 11th in free-throw percentage and tied for 15th in blocked shots.

WINNING FEELING: With the 75-53 win over Eastern New Mexico, it snapped a five-game losing streak to start the season. Since 1960-61, A&M-Commerce has started a season without a win in its first five games on four occasions - 1992-93 (final record: 3-26), 1990-91 (final record: 9-18), 1983-84 (final record: 15-14) and 1982-83 (final record: 4-11). However in 1983-84, the Lions went on to win the Lone Star Conference South Division title.

BOMBS AWAY!: A&M-Commerce made 187 three pointers in 2006-07, the trio of Kevin Widemond, Champ Sylvester and Leonard Bishop were the top three shooters and accounted for 82.3% return for the 2007-08 season. Widemond was the top three-point shooter on the team making 84 three pointers and Sylvester was second with 51. Bishop was the most accurate on the team, making 41% of his three pointers - school record: 45.7% in 1987-88 by Bennett Fields.

"FROM OLD ET!": Texas A&M-Commerce has never been shy of shooting from beyond-the-arc under head coach Sam Walker. 35 times since being named the head coach, the Lions have hit 10+ three pointers in a contest. Only twice since the 1999-2000 season has Texas A&M-Commerce been held to just one three-pointer in a contest - against Abilene Christian (Feb. 17, 2000) and Northeastern State (Feb. 11, 2006).

GRAND THEFT COMMERCE: The Lions came up with 230 steals in 28 contests, last year. A trademark of the Texas A&M-Commerce basketball program since head coach Sam Walker took over has been the ability to take the ball away from other teams. The 230 thefts, which factors out to 8.4 steals per contest, were the most since the Lions had 280 steals for an average of 10.4 steals per contest in Walker's first year in 2000-01.

CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARDS: The Lions grabbed 46 rebounds in the 72-68 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic. Since 2000-01, Texas A&M-Commerce has posted an all-time mark of 54-19 (.750), when they have grabbed 40+ rebounds in a contest.

FAMILY TIES: The A&M-Commerce roster is filled with ties to athletics on the high school level, collegiate and the professional level. Senior guard Leonard Bishop, Jr. played for his dad at Dallas Lincoln High School. Junior forward Rashad Brown has a cousin on the Lions football team - Willie Nabritt. The brother of freshman guard Kaleb Henderson - Justin Rogers - plays linebacker and on special teams units for the Dallas Cowboys. His second cousin played in the NFL from 1990 to 1996. The father of sophomore guard Dallas Hunter - Rick - played collegiately at the University of Dayton and the cousin of junior forward Jacobi Jackson - Kenoy Kennedy - plays for the Detroit Lions. The brother of assistant coach Jason Burton, Brian, is an assistant men's basketball coach at Collin County Community College.

HALL OF FAME: Former Lion Bill Gaines became the 22nd former person with ties to Lions men's basketball to be inducted into the A&M-Commerce Hall of Fame in October. Gaines, as a senior, led the Lone Star Conference and set a school record for points per game with a 25.1 average. He was a second team all-conference selection and set the school record for field goal attempts as a junior.

PRE-SEASON PROGNISTICATIONS: The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team was picked to finish second in the annual Lone Star Conference men's basketball preseason poll. The Lions were picked to finish behind Central Oklahoma, who return two starters including preseason LSC North Division Player of the Year Sam Belt and five other letterwinners. UCO collected 16 of 20 first-place votes to finish with 136 total points in the balloting of LSC coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives. Texas A&M-Commerce was picked second in the poll with a first-place nod and 98 points, followed by Southwestern Oklahoma in third with 90, defending LSC North champion Southeastern Oklahoma in fourth with 85, Northeastern State fifth with 77, Cameron sixth with 40 and East Central seventh with 34.

DESTINATION: BARTLESVILLE: The Lone Star Conference and the Bartlesville Sports Commission (BSC) is in its first year of a three-year agreement that allows Bartlesville, Okla., to host the LSC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments for three consecutive years, beginning in 2008. Tournament games will be played at Bartlesville High's Bruins Field House, which opened its doors this past fall. The $5.5 million, 2,221-seat field house is owned and operated by Bartlesville Public Schools and features 1,121 chairbacks along the sidelines and bleacher seating for 1,100 along the baselines. Additionally, there are two concession stands, a spacious athletic training area, seven fully-equipped locker rooms and a hospitality room that overlooks the playing court. The arena has a state-of-the art scoreboard and video board as well.

LONE STAR ROOTS: Eight of the 12 players on the A&M-Commerce hail from the state of Texas. The roster also includes a player from Louisiana - Champ Sylvester, Kansas - Derrick Darkis, New Jersey - Kevin Widemond and Florida - Rashad Brown.
