Texas A&M University-Commerce student-athletes on Saturday, April 5th took part in the Commerce Big Event. Members of the men's and women's basketball and men's and women's golf took an active role in cleaning up Ivory Moore Park and the surrounding area. Student athletic trainers were involved in the painting of the gazebo next to the library. Members of the track and field and cross country teams cleaned up along some of the roads in Commerce as well as the set up and clean up of City Park. The women's soccer team was also involved in with the clearing of Hubble Park.

The Commerce Big Event is an annual event that takes place to improve the appearance, facilities or safety of the community. 2008 marks the ninth year that the event has occurred is co-sponsored the Commerce Chamber of Commerce along with the city of Commerce and the University.
