LIONS FINISH THE HIGH DESERT CLASSIC STRONG WITH A 71-64 WIN

Dec. 18, 2005

Final Stats

LAS VEGAS, N.V. - After being down by 18 at halftime, the Lions came back to record their ninth win of the season 71-64 over Cal State San-Bernardino Sunday afternoon, in their final game at the High Desert Classic in Las Vegas, N.V.

A&M-Commerce turned the game around in the second half allowing the Coyotes just 27.8 percent from the field, compared to their 42.9 percent in the first half. The Lions forced Cal State to turn the ball over 11 times in the final period and scored 27 points off those turnovers.

Cal State had command over the entire contest until 3:55 was left in the second half, when Jason Rabb scored a layup to tie the game, drawing a foul on Coyotes Moses Gonzalez for a three-point play. The shot from the line was good and it gave the Lions a one point lead and their first edge over Cal State for the first time in the game.

Four Lions scored in double figures for the first time this season. Guard Lamar Searight led all scorers with his second consecutive 20 point game. Jason Rabb contributed with 14 points, Ellis Kidd Jr., recorded 12 and Jermart Miller tallied 11.

Moses Gonzalez and Kenneth Barnes led the Coyotes for the day. Gonzalez recorded 17 points and Barnes contributed 15.

The Lions will take the rest of the year off in preparation for their final two crossover games, which will be played at home. A&M-Commerce will face Tarleton State and Midwestern, starting on Jan. 5th for a weekend double header.
