A&M-COMMERCE SWEEPS FINAL HOMESTAND OF 2005

Final Stats

COMMERCE, TX - In the final homestand of 2005, the A&M-Commerce men's basketball team defeated Abilene Christian 78-62 to sweep their two game homestand of the week.

The Lions entered the final half with a seven point lead, after the game being tied at 14 with 9:56 left in the first period. Kevin Walker tied the game and then gave the Lions the lead after two good free throw shots to put A&M-C up by one, 15-14. Jermart Miller came back with 8:33 left to give the Lions a four point lead and they never allowed the Wildcats come back.

In the final half of the contest, the Lions dominated the floor shooting 46.9% from the field and 84.6% behind the charity stripe. They also out scored the Wildcats 30-10 inside the paint and recorded 14 points off ACU's turnovers.

Jermart Miller led the team with 21 points and four assists, while P.J. Hatcher and Bobby Joshua scored 11 coming off the bench. Joshua also posted eight boards for the night, and starters Jason Rabb and Nick Goellner posted nine rebounds leading the Lions in total boards.

Leading the way for ACU was Demarquez Remebert who brought in 15 points and six boards. Two other Wildcats scored in double figures, Tiago Souza scored 13 and Cameron Holson tallied 10.
 

 

A&M-Commerce will resume play as they head to Portales, New Mexico and Canyon, Texas, on December 8 and 10 to face Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M.
