A&M-COMMERCE GOES 1-0 IN CROSSOVER PLAY

Dec. 2, 2005

Final Stats

COMMERCE, TX. - The A&M-Commerce men's basketball team won their fifth game in a row, beating Angelo State 65-58 at home in crossover play.

After a total of 10 lead changes in the first half, the Lions (6-1) took over the second period, allowing the Rams to get within three. But A&M-C came back to extend their lead with 1:57 on the clock scoring four points in under 50 seconds to put them up by seven, 60-53.

Chris Fantroy led all scorers with 13 points, six boards and three assists, while guards Lamar Searight and Jermart Miller gave him a hand scoring 11 (Searight) and 12 (Miller) points each. It was the third time this season that three Lions scored double figures in a game.

Center Nick Goellner recorded five of the seven blocks tallied by the Lions. The five were two blocks shy of tying his career record from last season, and the most blocks the Rockwall, Texas native recorded this year.

P.J. Hatcher and Jason Rabb also posted six rebounds for the night, while Bobby Joshua led the team in total boards with seven.

Leading the way for ASU was Rashawn Childs with 23 points. Overall the Rams shot only 33% from the floor.

The Lions shot their second best percentage for the season in free throws with 60 % and posted a total of 39 rebounds, which is 15 shy of 300 in just seven games.

A&M-C will finish their two game homestand against Abilene Christian on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
