A&M-COMMERCE MEN DOMINATE OVER PAUL QUINN 104-53

Nov. 25, 2005

Final Stats

SAN ANTONIO,TX - The Lions started off on a good note Friday night, in their first game of the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic. Due to a late schedule change, A&M-Commerce went up against Paul Quinn of Dallas, Texas, instead of Sterling College. The Lions defeated the Tigers 104-53 for a 3-1 record for the season. The win was also the second consecutive win of the 2005-06 campaign.

A&M-C took control early in the game out scoring and out rebounding the Tigers by more than 30%. Paul Quinn shot the first basket of the game to go up 2-0 and took the lead twice in the opening minutes.

Mike Berry changed the momentum at 18:23 when he tipped in the ball to tie the game at 5-5. He then posted his first defensive rebound of the night, which allowed Nick Goellner to lay in the ball for two and a 7-5 lead. Once the lay-up by Goellner took place, the Tigers never saw the lead again.

At the half, A&M-Commerce went in with a 58-31 lead, scoring the highest three-point percentage, 81.8%.

Jermart Miller scored five three-point shots in a row and was 5-for-6 from long distance at the half to finish the night with a season game high of 20 points. Jason Rabb and Kevin Walker also had impressive shots behind the arc, going 2-for-2 (Rabb) and 2-for-3 (Walker), to give the Lions their highest three-point percentage in the first period. Both Rabb and Walker ended the night in double figures scoring 12 points a piece.

Rabb and Chris Fantroy posted double-doubles for the night. It was the first time this season that two Lions both registered double-doubles. Rabb finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Fantroy brought in 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Alonzo Butler. He scored a total of 13 points with seven boards.

Up next for A&M-C is tournament host St. Mary's. The Lions will go up against the Rattlers in the final game of the Thanksgiving Classic Saturday night. Tip-Off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
