Senior Bobby Joshua had his third double double of the season, scoring a career-high 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, on Senior Day to lead Texas A&M-Commerce to a 102-93 win over Southwestern Oklahoma.

The Lions shot 59% from the field its second highest percentage of the season in the win to raise their record to 14-13 overall and 7-5 in the Lone Star Conference North Division. Joshua was joined in double figures by Kevin Widmeond, who shared in game-high honors with 23, Lance Jackson scored a career-high 22, Champ Sylvester added 14 in the win.

Southwestern Oklahoma (12-14, 3-9 LSC North) landed three players in double figures, including 23 from Clarke Hale. Marcus Millendedr and Reggie Gunn added 17 and 13, respectively.

Joshua scored the first four points of the contest as the Lions built an early 19-9 advantage. Texas A&M-Commerce would never trail in the contest. Joshua and Jackson took control of the contest on the frontline, outscoring the Bulldogs 28-14 on points in the paint. Widemond hit four three pointers in the first 20 minutes to give the Lions a 55-40 halftime lead. SWOSU cut the deficit to as little as three, 31-28, with 5:40 remaining in the opening half. The Lions managed to extend its lead to as much as 16 in the first half.

Texas A&M-Commerce came out in the second half and shot 60.9% from the field. The Bulldogs rallied to cut the deficit as little as four on a pair of occasions. The Lions scored 12 of the final 18 points to put the finishing touches on the win.
 

 

The Lions will continue their season at the 2007 Lone Star Conference Tournament, facing an undetermined opponent on Tuesday.
