Lions Shoot 56.9% From the Field in 110-102 Loss to SWOSU

Texas A&M-Commerce shot 56.9% from the field; however they dropped a 110-102 decision to host Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Lamar Searight scored a game-high and career-high 32 points to lead four Lions in double figures. He was joined by Kevin Widemond, who added 16, Bobby Joshua scored 14 and Leonard Bishop poured in 11.

SWOSU spread the scoring among nine players, including six in double figures. All five Bulldog starters - Clarke Hale (23 pts)Jose Garcia (19 pts), Nate Perry (11 pts), Reggie Gunn (10 pts) were in double digits as well as Eric Payne scored 20 off the bench. In the win, SWOSU shot 52.8% from the field and made 18 three pointers.

Searight opened the contest with a three-point play to start the contest, giving the Lions a 3-0 advantage. The lead was short lived as the Bulldogs led for the remainder of the contest. The Lions would get as close as one, 66-65, with 14:09 left in the contest when Martel Jones made a lay up. SWOSU answered with one of its 18 three pointers when Payne made his second-straight three pointer to stretch the margin to four, 69-65 with 13:48 remaining in the contest.

With breaking the 100-point plateau for the second-straight game, it is the first time since the Lions went over 100 points in three-straight games in 1978-79.

Next, the Lions will travel to Central Oklahoma on Wednesday at 8 pm in Edmond, Okla.
