Recently, the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's cross country team was named to the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team.

The Lions, who are coached by Rich Lawrence and Jason Wicke, are one of 67 schools and just one of three representing the Lone Star Conference selected for the annual award. To be eligible for the honor, teams must list all student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and who have competed in 50 percent or more of the cross country competitions on the team's schedule. Additionally, the team must compete at the NCAA Division II regional championships and have a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Earlier this year, A&M-Commerce finished fourth at the 2007 Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships and the top four runners for the Lions will return in 2008.
