Nov. 5, 2005
ABILENE, TX - Several runners for the Lions men's and women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Cross Country Meet on Saturday in Abilene, Texas at Sherrod Park. The men placed 10th out of 16 teams competing, with five runners who placed 16th, 47th, 52nd, 54th, and 76th respecitvely. Ryan Dirickson led the way with a time of 34:20.90 for 16th place. Caleb Reynolds placed 47th clocking in at 36:11.60, while Logan Bowman and Matthew Snowden came in at 52nd and 54th with times of 36:42.85 and 36:56.25. Jessie Rodriguez also placed for the Lions clocking in at 38:49.30 for a 76th place finish. Niki Williams and Kara Bickel represented the women's team. Williams came in at 25:28.30, while Bickel clocked in at 26:07.20. This was the eighth year under Head Coach Pat Ponder that the cross country team competed at the NCAA Division II South Central Region meet. The best performance that an A&M-Commerce cross country team currently holds dates back to 1999 at the Fort Hays meet, where the women place fifth overall in the region. The Lions will take a rest for the year and gear up for the 2006 track and field season, which will begin in late February. +++A&M-C+++
