Texas A&M-Commerce senior Larry Gilbert improved on his season-best in the discus at the ACU Twilight on Thursday. Gilbert improved on his season-best in the discus by seven feet and five inches with a throw of 172-4 (52.52m) for the seventh-best toss among NCAA Division II throwers.

Gilbert has provisionally qualified in the discus and in the shot put for the upcoming NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships. The NCAA Track and Field committee will announce the selections for the NCAA Championships on Tuesday, May 15th at 1:00 pm.

Also looking to improve on their provisional marks were senior Ryan Graves in the shot put, junior Darron Sheppard in the discus and Kyle Thompson in the 110-meter hurdles. Graves finished third with a toss of 49-8 and Sheppard had a throw of 160-2 in the discus to finish fourth. Thompson crossed the line in ninth place (14.72).

Heading into this weekend's final qualifying meets among NCAA Provisional marks, Sheppard has the 11th best mark in the discus in the discus, Graves has the 25th and Gilbert has 29th best throw in the shot put. Thompson has the 29th-best time in the 110-meter hurdles.
