In a field of Division I and Division II competitors, the Texas A&M-Commerce track and field team competed on Saturday at the Dr. Pepper Invitational, hosted by Baylor University, at the Hart Patterson Track and Field Complex.

On the women's side, Niki Williams was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:53.91), Lindsey Rainey was fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-11 (1.50m).

Lions throwers Caylin Taylor and Britney Fisher were fifth and sixth in the shot put with throws of 35-1 3/4 (10.71m) and 34-9 1/2 (10.60m), respectively. The duo swapped places in the discus as Fisher was fifth and Taylor was sixth with tosses separated by two centimeters of 118-9 (36.21m) and 118-9(36.19m). Rachel Redding was sixth in the hammer throw with a throw of 122-4 (37.29m).

On the men's side, Kyle Thompson continued his strong season with a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (15.24).

Leslie White and Thompson shared in fifth-place honors at the high jump, clearing 6-2 3/4 (1.90m). Leonard Jackson was ninth in the 200-meter dash and third among Division II competitors (22.54). Also, Jacob Almond was ninth in the 400-meter dash and third among Division II institutions (51.27).
 

 

In the field events, Larry Gilbert and Ryan Graves took fourth and fifth place honors in the shot put. Gilbert recorded a toss of 49-5 1/2 (15.07m) and Graves had a throw of 49-1 (14.96m). White was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 167-9 (51.14m). In addition, the Lions swept third through fifth place in the discus as Darron Sheppard led Texas A&M-Commerce with a throw of 150-5 (45.84m). Graves was fourth with a throw of 142-10 (43.55m) and Gilbert was fifth with a toss of 142-4 (43.39m).
